I recently heard someone say, “Your current situation is a product of your minimum standards.” And wow—did that one hit me like a lightning bolt to the heart.
Not too long ago, before I started my Spiritual Mindset Coaching business, I was clocking in ten-hour days for barely enough pay to make ends meet. My office? Destroyed in the recent hurricanes. The mold on the walls was thick, the gnats were relentless, and the energy? Toxic. Angry residents stormed the halls daily, and my boss—let’s just say he thought leadership meant control, not compassion.
It was exhausting. It was depleting. And most of all, it was a wake-up call.
There came a moment—perhaps you've had one too—where I realized, this isn't just a job... this is a reflection of what I was willing to tolerate. My nervous system was shot. My spirit felt dimmed. And yet, I kept showing up. Because like so many people, I still had rent to pay, bills to cover, and responsibilities pulling at me from every side.
So what do you do when you realize that your current standards have outgrown your current situation, but your reality hasn’t quite caught up yet?
Here’s what I did—and what I now teach others to do through my coaching:
1. Energetically Declare “I Deserve More”
You don’t have to wait for a perfect moment. You can raise your standard energetically before anything changes in your outer world. I began each day with a simple, soul-anchoring mantra:
“I am worthy of peace, purpose, and prosperity.”
Repeat it like your rent depends on it—because energetically, it does.
“I am worthy of peace, purpose, and prosperity.”
Repeat it like your rent depends on it—because energetically, it does.
2. Shift Your Vibration in Small, Practical Ways
I started finding moments of beauty and clarity, even in the chaos. A 5-minute grounding meditation in my car. Playing uplifting music in my headphones while dodging gnats. Calling in my higher self before walking into that office. These little rituals weren’t just coping mechanisms—they were vibrational lifelines pulling me toward a better version of myself.
3. Create an Exit Map—Not Just an Exit Plan
You don’t have to quit tomorrow, but you do need a direction. For me, it looked like this:
- What are my true gifts?
- Who am I meant to serve?
- What can I start building on the side, in alignment with my soul?
That’s how my Spiritual Mindset Coaching business was born—brick by sacred brick, vision by vision.
4. Surround Yourself With Evidence of What's Possible
Find people who’ve done what you want to do. Read their stories. Learn their tools. Immerse yourself in the frequency of possible. Because when you see it, you start to believe it. And when you believe it, you begin to attract it.
The truth is: Raising your standards doesn’t always mean walking away overnight. Sometimes it means staying, while shifting internally, building quietly, dreaming loudly, and deciding—again and again—that you are no longer available for anything that dishonors your spirit.
I’ve been there. I’ve felt stuck. I’ve cried in moldy offices.
And I’ve risen.
So can you.
And I’ve risen.
So can you.
If you're in that in-between space—your spirit outgrowing your surroundings but your bank account not quite ready for the leap—know this:
